The Camino Day 5 – Outskirts of Pamplona
I’m alone on a dirt road leaving a small town when I hear a bell ringing. I turn to look and see a herd of rams coming my way. They fill the breadth of the road, leaving no where for me to escape. I turn sideways and press my body up against the brush lining the road. As they run past, one brushes my leg. Scary, but I also find it humorous. This week is Festival de Fermin, which means it’s time for the running of the bulls in Pamplona. I’ll be passing through it today. They say there are an extra million visitors in Pamplona this week, so I’ll just walk on through to the next town. It’s a 13 mile day in extreme heat. So while I won’t run with the bulls, I guess I can say I did run with the rams.
