I feel a surge of joy and pride as I stand at the counter, before the officer. I watch him examine my pilgrim’s passport filled with the stamps which document my journey. I feel accomplishment as he prints my name on the certificate. I walked 253 of the 483 miles. Not bad for a 65-year old woman who has lived a mostly sedentary life. I’ve accomplished what I set in my heart to do.
