Remembering a Party
This week I found myself thinking about a colleague’s retirement dinner from several years ago. I was the chair of the planning committee. After the event, someone told me how fun it was and hopefully I’d be able to plan her party someday. I shared with her the secret for our party success: The retiree had given us lots to work with! From the racy, red-romance novels to the foul-smelling odor traced to a rotten banana in her purse, she gave us stories that brought life to the gathering. Look, here I am years later still thinking about her and that party!
That kind of makes me think about what life experiences we leave for people – for inspiration, learning, or just simple entertainment. We all have something unique to bring to the party, a wonderful blend of interests, successes, talents, and a fair amount of mishaps, regrets, and wishes for do-overs. It’s a nice mix, and I get to share this with all of you.
Thank you for following me in this blog each week and for sharing your life as well. I appreciate it.
