Read a Good Book Today
Hey! Happy International Literacy Day!
As you may know, I’ve worked in adult literacy and education for more than forty years now. It’s a career that inspires me, teaches me, and makes me think. And it causes me to appreciate the ability to read and to have access to books to read. Today I offer you a quote from one of my favorite authors—Uruguayan journalist Eduardo Galeano. He said:
“When a book is alive, really alive, you feel it. You put it to your ear here, and you feel it breathe, sometimes laugh, sometimes cry, just like a person, a little person.”
To celebrate literacy day today, I encourage you to pick up a book that you enjoy and spend some time with it. Listen. See. Feel what it has to say to you. And then maybe share it with someone else. Enjoy your day!
