A New Walking Path
It was warm yesterday. Bright sun. Cool breeze. Nice walking weather. So I put on my hiking sandals and took off. It’s my first time out for a walk in my new home, the Lewis-Clark Valley. I must say, I did miss the pine trees from Spokane Valley. I missed the tree-covered sections of Centennial Trail following beside the Spokane River. I said my good-byes and turned my attention to this new trail alongside the Snake River.
Not much foliage on the trees yet, and even when they do grow they’ll leave the sky wide open on this trail. I look across the river and see the rolling hills and know that soon they will become a beautiful, rich green. The sky and the clouds are just as vibrant as ever. I’ve decided to welcome this new landscape, to appreciate it, to enjoy it. It’s different and that’s okay. My goal is to find what’s special about this land.
That’s life, isn’t it? If we look back and long for what we did have, we’ll never find out what’s new and beautiful in front of us. Better to keep our eyes forward, giving thanks for where we are and what we have. Let that draw what we will create for tomorrow. For me, I’m creating a new walking path. I hope this week you will welcome in something new to your life, as well.
Great addition to my daily Bible study.
