Took a bus the first day over the Pyrenees into Spain. I would have liked to walk the 13 miles up 4757 feet, but I have Achilles tendon injuries. Such a start would probably end my hike before it started. So I bus it to Roncesvalles, to the 183-bed Albergue de Peregrinos (Pilgrim’s Hostel) staffed by volunteers from Holland.

I set my wet hiking boots outside like everyone else to let the sun dry them out – a must for tomorrow’s walk.
